Build 6713- Mandatory Upgrade!
October 5, 2007 · Filed Under MeshCAM Releases
Several people mentioned problems with 6701 toolpaths but Klaus was the first to send me an STL file that let me replicate the error. It was a bad bug where some triangles could be totally ignored when using a flat endmill. A new version is being uploaded now that has a fix and adds the slicing back in. Slicing is not totally done but it’s in the build already and I need to post it now to get rid of the bug above. Since it’s a public release you can get it at http://www.grzsoftware.com/v2dl.php .

Robert,
I haven’t had much time to play recently, another project which is even more anal than cnc (it is possible :-). I never really played with the layer feature but think I have found a few things which don’t quite make sense.
1. Geometry offsets for slice should mirror the offsets from Define stock, and a Z offset would be nice. The X and Y offsets should be linked. We all don’t start with perfectly parallel stock.
2. ‘Stock Size’ title box would be less confusing if re-named ‘Slice Stock Size’
Not connected with slicing…
3. I have a tool.txt file which I copy from build to build. Has always worked in the past but while the file seems to be there I get a blank tool list and I really hate typing in a new one.
4. With 6701 I had been playing with Pencil Cleanup, with 6713 I can’t select a finish tool (even a newly entered one) and get a warning about No Pencil Tool Selected even when the finish pass is unchecked. If finish is enabled I can un-check pencil, un-check finish and get a roughing pass and finish using new tool but pencil does not work.
Sorry to end your 8 days of peace, and some of these problems might be my doing but…
Jeff
Robert,
Problems # 3 and 4 seemed to have been fixed with a re-install. I must have goofed up some where had divine help from M$.
