New Stock Dialog
November 1, 2007 · Filed Under MeshCAM Development
Below is a screenshot of the first mockup of the new stock dialog. It’s far from done, it’s ugly, and a few buttons, like “Center Geometry in Stock”, have not been included. The reason I have posted it here is to get input. I was attempting to give the user a lot of flexibility compared to the current dialog but now that I look at it it seems like it may be overkill. I’m not sure that it’s necessary to define each margin around the geometry separately. Some competitors don’t offer this. Your thoughts are appreciated…

I like it, Robert! If you enter the stock and lock it and enter one margin for the axis, will MeshCAM fill in the other margin for that axis?
It would still be useful to have a “center” button for each axis.
I don’t think that this is overkill at all.
Best regards,
Randy
I think it would be handy as well.
I use the stock dialog to control were meshcam cuts to, I’ve just done a job using the 4th axis to do a 2 sided job in round bar, I didn’t want the round cut through at the rotary table end so I set the stock to 0 at that end so meshcam didn’t cut the part off the stock.
Other uses are that your using a 3mm cutter so you set the stock to 4mm all round, the real peice of metal is much bigger but there is no point in cutting it away.

Nice, and not overkill at all. Nothing wrong with offering more than your competitors, in fact usually a good idea.
Sticky center boxes for each axis, and sticky margins would save typing for most similar jobs.

OK- I’ll continue.
